What you need to know about garage doors
- The garage door takes up to 40% of the front facade of a residential building and is one of the main elements shaping the architecture of your home.
- A sectional door is the largest movable structural element of your home.
- A properly selected garage door, together with automation and an appropriate intelligent control system, allows for significant energy savings.
- Regular inspections increase the lifespan of doors and have a positive impact on the environment.
- The estimated lifespan of BEDITOM garage doors exceeds 25 years.
- Brama A double-leaf swinging garage door is a traditional solution. For this type of door, it is necessary to protect them (foot, lock, limiter) against uncontrolled closing/opening, e.g., due to strong gusts of wind. Parking in front of it requires maintaining a distance greater than the width of the wing, which sometimes necessitates planning a larger driveway.
- Brama A tilting door requires slightly less space to work in front of it than a swinging door. However, due to its design, it still requires free space in front of the door to open fully. Moreover, up-and-over doors are often not insulated and not very airtight. Like swing doors, these structures are troublesome in cold or moderate climate conditions, especially in winter, when even a minimal amount of blowing and accumulating snow in front of the door causes inconvenience when trying to open it.
- Brama A sectional door is the best construction solution. When using it, you can park your car directly in front of the door, because the sectional door leaf moves vertically upwards within the opening, then aligns itself with horizontal guides under the garage ceiling. The design and technical solutions of our doors make BEDITOM doors perfectly balanced, which means that very little force is required to open and close them, and the dedicated automation allows for full comfort of use. A wide range of guides, panels with a 40 or 60 mm thick polyurethane foam insulating core, and a full set of seals ensure that our sectional doors meet current thermal insulation requirements (Warm House, Passive House, etc.), and a wide range of colors completes the aesthetic effect.
In sectional doors, two basic types of door balancing can be used: torsion springs or extension springs. Torsion springs are mounted on a shaft and, depending on the installation conditions, installed directly above the door in the lintel or at the back of the horizontal guides under the ceiling (so-called low leads). In turn, regardless of the installation conditions, the extension springs are always located in the vertical guides, on the left and right sides of the door casing.y oparte na sprężynach skrętnych lub sprężynach naciągowych.
Both balancing systems are designed to ensure that the user can easily open BEDITOM doors manually, without unnecessary effort. Additionally, both spring packages are designed to be safe, which means that if one of the springs breaks, the door will not suddenly fall or tilt.
In BEDITOM doors, we offer a range of guiding solutions for sectional doors. As standard, 200 mm of free headroom is required. In this variant, the torsion springs are attached to the lintel, and there are no problems with equipping the door with any suitable electric drive. If necessary, we can manufacture a door with a lowered lintel system, even up to 115 mm, where it will still be possible to install an electric drive to open and close it.
For single-car garages and most passenger cars, a door width of 2500 mm is sufficient. For double garages where cars are parked next to each other, we recommend doors with a width of 4800-5000 mm, depending on the type and expected size of your vehicles.
For a standard passenger car, the recommended opening height is 2125 mm. If you have an off-road vehicle, minivan, or a car of similar height, we recommend making a door with a clear opening height of at least 2250 mm. For most delivery vehicles, the entry height in the clear opening should be at least 2500 mm. Let us also remember that the car models produced are becoming larger over time. If you decide to build a garage or replace the door, you must take into account that the BEDITOM door will last much longer than the average lifespan of a vehicle.
Our offer includes products perfectly matched in color to WIKĘD doors and windows. If you have wooden or veneered joinery from another manufacturer, our extensive range of patterns will likely enable you to select the perfect decor that meets your expectations.
If you need to match the color scheme to your individual needs, we can paint the door leaf in our painting chamber in any RAL color, using paints from renowned manufacturers, while maintaining strict technological and ecological conditions. BEDITOM doors are covered with anti-corrosion coatings, including galvanized sheet metal and at least two layers of paint of various colors and degrees of matte finish.
The drive power is selected based on the door size and the type of guides. Because BEDITOM sectional doors are precisely balanced, the force required to open them is 2-4 kg (the force needed to open the door effortlessly with one hand). Therefore, our doors can be fitted with an electric drive from any manufacturer, in accordance with their guidelines regarding the door dimensions. BEDITOM recommends drives and equipment from the American manufacturer LIFTMASTER for its garage doors, and from the German manufacturer GFA for industrial doors. Both companies, with many years of experience, are market leaders and guarantee the quality of the products offered. The drives they produce are characterized by high reliability and quality, as well as the adaptation of the range and accessories to the European market (they meet EU standards and have the appropriate certificates).
BEDITOM doors meet the criteria of the "Clean Air" program. High insulation of the segments, tight connections between the segments, and properly designed sealing elements for the entire door not only ensure trouble-free certification, but also ensure the proper energy efficiency of the building. The heat transfer coefficient for most of our solid doors is between 1.1 and 1.3 W/m2K.
Please send us a completed inquiry form about the door model you are interested in. That's all! Our employee will contact you, discuss technical details, help you select the right product, and advise you on the best solutions for you.
The average delivery time for typical orders is 10 to 15 business days from the date of signing the order.
In the case of residential construction, the garage is only located within the body of the residential building. The 8% VAT rate applies to the delivery of a product with an assembly service – this also applies to automatic doors (equipped with an electric drive). The 8% VAT rate does not include automation for entrance doors to the property.
The basic factors influencing the determination of costs are:
- size and model of the garage door,
- type of drive used,
- equipping the door with additional accessories,
- labor costs related to the assembly service (depending on building conditions).

Due to the solutions used, the installation of BEDITOM sectional doors is user-friendly for a specialized assembly team. Due to the large size of the door and the required precision of installation, we recommend that a professional and trained assembly team perform the installation. The installation of some elements of a sectional door requires specialized tools (e.g. installation and adjustment of torsion springs). Quality installation is the key to trouble-free and comfortable operation of the door for many years. Improper installation will result in inconvenience in everyday use and, in extreme cases, frequent breakdowns.
In the case of garage doors, installation usually takes from 2 to 4 hours depending on the conditions at the installation site, such as: energy availability, condition of the garage opening, floor preparation, etc. The installation time will also depend on the size of the door and the number of additional pieces of equipment (drive, photocells, and additional security). After installation, the correct operation is checked, and all types of safety devices protecting against accidents are checked. At this stage, the installation team is required to contact the investor/user and provide them with brief instructions for use, along with the relevant documentation. The final element is the signing of a bilateral acceptance protocol. From this moment on, the door is approved for use and covered by the warranty.
There are many manufacturers of sectional doors. The quality of the product and its price depend on the quality of the materials, accessories, and automation used.
BEDITOM has been a manufacturer of sectional doors for several decades. Thanks to our experience, we have developed modern solutions that meet the highest quality standards. We work exclusively with reputable component suppliers from the European market. We are aware that the quality of the components used has a decisive influence on the long-term and failure-free operation of our products. We do not compromise on quality in our doors. We are one of the leading manufacturers, focusing on the durability and safety of our products. You can learn more about our approach at: https://beditom.pl/o-firmie/.
BEDITOM doors do not require any special attention from the user. Normal maintenance is sufficient, including keeping the door segments clean and ensuring that the mechanical components are free from dirt and maintained with appropriate protective agents. Friction elements should be lubricated to ensure smooth operation, which will ensure many years of trouble-free service life.
Due to the typical construction cycle and many years of experience in the production and installation of sectional doors, we recommend a warranty inspection after the first year of operation. We are aware that during construction, doors are exposed to particularly difficult working conditions in an environment that is very unfavorable to mechanical elements (cement dust, plastering, filler, flooring, etc.).
After completion of construction works, professional service is recommended, including adjustment of the door, taking into account the actual, current condition of the product at the installation site, after all potential changes (e.g. change in floor height due to the installation of terracotta tiles). It is also required to check the door balance and the effectiveness of any mechanical and electrical protection devices that are not designed to operate in dusty conditions (e.g. when applying plaster).
The high quality of the product and the technical solutions adopted for sectional doors mean that any negligence in the above-mentioned scope will have an impact on the durability and comfort of use of the door in the following years of operation.
